DIAMOND DOGS
GUARANTEED TO GIVE YOU AN UNASHAMED GOOD ROCK 'N' ROLL TIME!The DIAMOND DOGS have just finished their upcoming album and this time they sure have cooked a special brew for you!
From time to time people claim that rock ’n’ roll is dead, but the rumour is always exaggerated. Other people – like The DIAMOND DOGS – don’t really care much for rumours but for the love of music. “What you put in is what you get out”, Sulo sings in Where Are You Tonight, and with The DIAMOND DOGS you know that the investment is always heart, soul and rock ‘n’ roll! DIAMOND DOGS new album UP THE ROCK contains some of the strongest song material the band has ever released, and the package is signed, sealed and delivered with the superb production of Mr. Thomas Skogsberg. The last DIAMOND DOGS album Black River Road (2004) was embraced by the critics and has opened new opportunities for the band in countries like Spain, Germany and England. After successful touring with the new line-up, the band was more than ready to take it one step further. “We wanted to try something new with the production on this album, and knew that Thomas was the right man for the job”, says Sulo, “We just talked about what kind of record we wanted to make, and he took us there”. With the cocky piano intro of first single Generation Upstart, The Duke of Honk guides us right into the sound of UP THE ROCK. Rough, smoky vocals brilliantly mixed with honky tonk piano and laid back guitars. The warm atmosphere brings the air of 1973 and the energy of the songs and performance give a promise of rock music for the new generation. The DIAMOND DOGS are bringing a steamy rock album to the party, and you are all invited!
*** Founded in the early 90-ties by SULO and BOBBY LEE FETT (later also member of THE HELLACOPTERS) in small town Katrineholm, DIAMOND DOGS started to set new standards for rocking entertainment. In 1996 after four albums DIAMOND DOGS took a break, but woke up like the Sleeping Beauty right in time for the new millennium.
Their latest album full-length album “BLACK RIVER ROAD” is named after Svartbäcksvägen, the street in Katrineholm where Bobby Lee Fett grew up. “BLACK RIVER ROAD” has been celebrated by critics in Spain (Popular 1), UK (Kerrang!), Germany (Visions Mag, Rock Hard) and Scandinavia.
The album was recorded in November 2003 in STUDIO 301, Solna (Stockholm), where many classical recordings have been made over the years by ABBA (“The Album”), Europe, (“Final Countdown”), Neneh Cherry & Youssou N’Dour (“Seven Seconds “), to mentioned a few. The studio is also familiar territory to DIAMOND DOGS since the recording of the album “AS YOUR GREENS TURN BROWN” in 2000. Mixed in TRAXTON RECORDINGS by the sound engineer Christian Edgren.
Among the featured guests we find NICKE ANDERSSON from THE HELLACOPTERS, who has written and recorded the song “GOTTA BE GONE (IT’S ALRIGHT)” with Sulo, MATTIAS BÄRJED from THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES who played beautiful western guitars on the opening track “COME AWAY”, “RUSH FOR COMFORT” and “SPARE ME THE LAST JOKE”. “SPARE ME THE LAST JOKE” is also the result of a co-writing session with Sulo and RANDY BACHMAN from BACHMAN TURNER OVERDRIVE and GUESS WHO, and Canadian singer/songwriter DENISE McCANN.
The band have always attracted great musicians who share a love for rock ’n’ roll and boogie, and DIAMOND DOGS have a well-earned reputation as one of Scandinavia’s best live bands, coming from numerous gigs around Europe, including both headlining tours and supporting bands like NAZARETH, THE DAMNED and HANOI ROCKS.
